“My Father’s House”

The road’s been long, full of many twists and turns
I’ve found lots of ways to fall, many lessons yet unlearned
This world’s been cruel, it’s rare to find a friendly smile
But there’s one thing I know, that gets me through the lonesome miles

In my Father’s house, there is shelter from the rain
Warmth when I am cold, and a respite from my pain
In my Father’s house, I find a ready helping hand
In my Father’s house, I am received just as I am

There was a time in life, I could not wait to leave
Go my way alone, find what I was meant to be
But winds of trouble began to blow, and the first thought into my mind
Was my Father’s house, and the safety there I’d find

In my Father’s house, there is shelter from the storm
Warmth when I am cold, a place to mend what has been torn
In my Father’s house, I find a ready helping hand
In my Father’s house, I am received just as I am

Just as I am (without one plea)
Just as I am
